Welcome to the 1ST of spring! By the
time you read this the daffodils will
be poking their pretty heads up through
the ground and brightening everyone’s
day!
Don’t forget to VOTE
FOR ICG for the SEEK RECRUITMENT AWARDS…
A big thank you to all of you who have voted
for us in this years’ SEEK AWARDS.
For those of you who haven’t feel
free to click on the link below and make
it happen for us. http://www.seek.co.nz/sara
The sun changes attitudes
and as per our bi-line “it’s
all about attitude”. We have found
that there has been a lot more activity
in the market place in August as we leave
the winter blues behind us. Employers are
still recruiting staff regardless of what
the media will have you believe and we have
had several candidates employed this week
by the team at ICG, even without a vacancy!
It proves that if the candidate is a real
star then they will get snapped up in the
market regardless of the economy. Our proactive
thinking does assist this process.
At ICG we are positive
about the market and we are out there in
the trenches either attempting to secure
that dream job for you if you are a candidate
or locate the perfect candidate if you are
one of our employer clients.

Our Employment
Lawyer expert asks you “What is a
Personal Grievance” – Robert
Thompson from I.R. Thompson Associates Ltd
You may have heard through
the media the term personal grievance. There
are two general areas of the law, that an
employee may raise a personal grievance.
A personal grievance is generally an employment
dispute. This claim may be that the employee
has been unjustifiably dismissed or that
the employee’s employment or one or
more conditions of the employee’s
employment was affected to the employee’s
disadvantage by some unjustifiable action
by the employer.
In most cases, an unjustified
action arises when the employer unfairly
warns, deducts their wages or fails to adhere
to some policy or process in the Individual
Employment Agreement. The law presents an
overwhelming minefield for the employer
and the law stands weighted in favour of
employees.
Generally, the employee
will take legal action to recover compensation,
lost wages and costs. Employees have significant
opportunities to seek advice through either
the Department of Labour, or other Government
entities. It is very important that employers
are proactive in the running of their business
and ensure that if any action taken against
an employee, must be based on sound legal
advice, from specialist employment advisers.
We recommend that you contact Robert Thompson
from I.R. Thompson Associates in the event
that you need legal advice on how to warn
or dismiss an employee.
For any assistance
or clarification, please contact Robert
Thompson from I.R. Thompson Associates Ltd,
